Lost or stolen myki

You have a registered myki card

If your registered myki card is lost or stolen, report it as soon as possible by calling us on 1800 800 007 or logging onto your online myki account. Your balance is protected from the time you contact us.

Once you’ve reported your card as lost or stolen, it will be blocked and your balance protected. You can then request a replacement myki card.

You have an unregistered myki card

If you haven’t registered your myki card, and it’s lost or stolen, we can’t replace it. You’ll need to buy a new myki card.

You have a Student Pass

To replace your Student Pass, you need to return to where it was issued and ask for a replacement. We can’t replace student passes online or over the phone.

You have a regional ticket (V/Line)

We can replace a reserved V/Line paper ticket that’s lost or stolen. Simply complete a V/Line refund application form at any staffed V/Line station before the day of travel.

You have a damaged myki

You can replace a damaged or defective myki card at a staffed station, online or over the phone by calling us on 1800 800 007.

If our equipment can’t read your damaged or defective myki card, we won’t be able to immediately transfer any remaining balance to your new myki card. You’ll need to top up your new card with myki Money or a myki Pass.

  • Transferring myki Pass from your original myki card to your new card takes up to 36 hours.
  • Transferring myki Money from your original myki card to your new card takes up to seven days.

You’ll need to send us the damaged or defective myki card. We’ll send you a new myki card within 10 business days, preloaded with any remaining balance from your original card.

Your paper ticket is damaged 

To replace your ticket, take it to the ticket office at any staffed V/Line station. Complete a V/Line Refund Application Form and identify the station that issued the ticket.

Your myki card has expired

If your myki has expired, or will expire in 60 days you can get a replacement at a PTV Hub or staffed station. All myki cards expire after 4 years.

Your expired card will be linked to your replacement card, and any balance transferred instantly. Your myki card will be ready to use straight away. If your expired myki is registered, your replacement myki will automatically be registered too.

If you set Auto Top Up on your old myki, this service won’t be transferred to your replacement myki. You’ll need to set up Auto Top Up again.

You can apply for a replacement myki online or by calling us on 1800 800 007.

We’ll process your request once we’ve received your damaged or defective myki card. You’ll receive a new myki card within 10 business days, preloaded with any remaining balance from your original card. If you need to travel immediately, buy and top up a new myki card with myki Money or a myki Pass.
