Starting 31 March 2023, no matter where you live in Victoria, it will cost you the same amount to travel. The most you’ll pay is the same as a daily capped fare, which is currently $9.20 or $4.60 for concession.
You'll need either a myki, V/Line paper ticket or bus paper ticket for your journey. Different fares apply for these tickets.

myki is valid for travel by train between metropolitan Melbourne and:
Journeys that include travel outside of the myki zones require a paper ticket.
If you have an existing myki Pass, you can purchase a paper ticket for the part of the journey not covered by your myki Pass.

When travelling with myki Money, your fare lasts two hours if you're travelling within two zones.
If you’re travelling through more than two zones, the fare duration is extended so you can complete your journey. The more zones you travel through, the longer the fare duration.

| 2 hour | 2 hour tickets allow for unlimited travel for at least two hours on local bus and train services. The ticket expires two hours from the next full hour after it was purchased. For example, a ticket purchased at 8.55am will expire at 11am and a ticket purchased at 9.05am will expire at midday. Tickets purchased after 6pm are valid until last service. |
