As part of Victoria’s Big Build, we’re building the Metro Tunnel. Twin nine kilometre tunnels have been dug under the city and construction is underway on five 'underground' stations. The Metro Tunnel will connect the Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines.
We are testing the tunnel's new systems and conducting trial operations in the leadup to opening in 2025.
As a result of these works, buses replace trains at various times on sections of the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines.
Planned maintenance and renewal works undertaken by Metro Trains Melbourne will also continue to ensure the safety and efficiency of Melbourne's metropolitan rail network.
For more information, please visit bigbuild.vic.gov.au.
Car park and pedestrian access changes: Temporary car park closures and changes to pedestrian access will affect stations along the line during the works.
For the safety and comfort of all passengers, there are restrictions on what you may take with you on buses.
