Public transport for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™: Nigeria v Canada

We’re helping you get to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ with extra trams and trains running to get you to the game and back.

The Nigeria v Canada game will be held at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (officially known as AAMI Park) on 21 July 2023. The event kicks off at 12.30pm and ends at approximately 2.20pm.

See below for information about additional train and tram services being offered to get you to and from the game. There are also some disruptions to services which may affect your journey.

Regular services

Regular services are running to and from Richmond and Jolimont stations.

Additional services

After the game there will be an additional metropolitan service to both:

  • Ringwood via Richmond, departing 2:46pm from Platform 9
  • Glen Waverley via Richmond, departing 2:43pm from Platform 10

Disruptions to services

Frankston Line

Buses replace trains between Flinders Street and Moorabbin.  

  • Citybound passengers should make their way to their normal station to catch a replacement bus. 
  • After the match, passengers should make their way to the Arts Centre to catch a replacement bus home.  
  • Alternatively, passengers should make their way to Flinders Street Station to catch a Sandringham Line train to Brighton Beach. From there, an express bus will take passengers to Moorabbin Station.

Regular services

Regular services will be running via Route 70 and Route 48 via Wellington Parade.

Additional services

There will be additional tram services to get you to the game via:

  • Route 70a between Flinders Street West (Stop D6) and Stop 7D Olympic Boulevard.   

There will be additional tram services after the game via:

  • Route 70a between Stop 7D Olympic Boulevard and Stop 4 Flinders Street Station/Elizabeth Street.

Customers can catch the Route 246 bus close to the MCG.

Please note, services may terminate prior to the end of the match.

Regular services

Regular services will be running to and from Southern Cross Station.

Disruptions to services

Bairnsdale Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Traralgon and Bairnsdale.
Swan Hill Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo.
Warrnambool Line
  • Warrnambool Line trains will run between Warrnambool and Geelong.
  • Passengers will travel on Geelong Line trains between Geelong and Southern Cross stations.
