Public transport for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ – Round of 16 – Sweden v USA: Sunday 6 August 2023

We’re helping you get to the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ with extra trams and trains running to get you to the game and back.

Melbourne is hosting 2 games from the last 16 matches of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ at the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium. Public transport is your best way to enjoy it, as Group G winners Sweden take on Group E runners-up USA. Extra services will help you get to and from the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium (officially known as AAMI Park) on Sunday 6 August 2023.

The event kicks off at 7pm and ends at approximately 8.50pm.

  • Lilydale – leaving at 9:11pm from Platform 9
  • Belgrave - leaving at 9:25pm from Platform 9
  • Glen Waverley – leaving at 9:22pm & 9:32pm from Platform 10
  • Pakenham – leaving at 9:24pm & 9:49pm from Platform 6
  • Sandringham – leaving at 9:14pm & 9:34pm from Platform 2
  • Frankston - leaving at 9:13pm & 9:30pm from Platform 4

Return service from Flinders Street Station

  • Clifton Hill - leaving at 9:24pm & 9:39pm from Platform 1 via City loop
  • Werribee – leaving at 9:31pm & 9:52pm from Platform 10
  • Craigieburn - leaving at 9:29pm from Platform 7
  • Craigieburn - leaving at 9:59pm from Platform 9
  • Sunbury – leaving at 9:22pm & 9:51pm from Platform 5

Disruptions to services

Mernda Line
  • Buses replace trains between Clifton Hill and Mernda.  
Hurstbridge Line
  • Buses replace trains between Clifton Hill and Eltham.  
Sandringham Line
  • Buses replace trains between South Yarra and Elsternwick until 7pm.
Glen Waverley, Alamein, Belgrave, Lilydale, Hurstbridge, Mernda, Upfield, Craigieburn, Sunbury lines 

No city loop trains from 9pm.

Regular services will be running via Route 70 and Route 48 via Wellington Parade.

Additional services

There will be additional tram services to get you to the game via:

  • Route 70a between Stop 6 Flinders Street West and Stop 7D AAMI Park.

There will be additional tram services after the game via:

  • Route 70a between Stop 7D AAMI Park and Stop 4 Flinders Street Station/Elizabeth Street.

Regular services will be running to and from Southern Cross Station.

Disruptions to services

Bairnsdale Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Pakenham from 8pm to last service.  
Ballarat Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Caroline Springs.
Bendigo and Echuca lines
  • Bendigo and Echuca line trains will run between Sunbury, Bendigo, and Echuca.
  • Passengers will travel on Sunbury Line trains between Southern Cross and Sunbury stations.
Geelong Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Geelong/Waurn Ponds from 9pm. 
Swan Hill Line
  • Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Bendigo.
Warrnambool Line
  • Warrnambool Line trains will run between Warrnambool and Geelong.
  • Passengers will travel on Geelong Line trains between Geelong and Southern Cross stations. Coaches replace trains between Southern Cross and Geelong/Waurn Ponds from 9pm.
