Special event and conference tickets

​If you’re organising an event or conference in Melbourne, you can include the cost of public transport in your ticket price.

The daily cost is $3 per person, including for complimentary event passes. This gives each participant unlimited travel on trains, trams and buses in metropolitan Melbourne during your event. The cost must be included on all tickets, whether the ticket holder uses public transport or not.

Your event volunteers are also entitled to special event ticketing. However, we can’t offer special event ticketing for volunteers only.


For your event to be eligible for special event ticketing, it must:

  • have at least 500 people attending each day
  • be held in Zone 1+2 (approximately 60 kilometres from the city centre)
  • be accessible by public transport
  • display approved PTV branding on the passes - we’ll provide artwork.


You’ll need to pay 25 per cent of the total cost of the event ticketing at least 10 days before your event. The $3 fee doesn’t include the cost of running extra trains, trams and buses.
