From 7 January 2024, a new bus service running between Donnybrook and Craigieburn stations will be introduced.

Route 501 Donnybrook Station – Craigieburn Station will run express via Hume Freeway with no stops between the two stations, providing a connection between regional and metro train services, as well as interchange options with bus routes 525 and 511.

The service will operate seven days a week:

  • On weekdays it will operate every 15 minutes during peak hours from 7am to 8:45am and 3:30pm until the last service at 7:30pm.
  • Outside peak hours the service will operate every 20 minutes.
  • On weekends it will operate every 40 minutes from 7am until the last service at 6:30pm.
  • The service will provide interchange options to routes 525 Donnybrook Station – Craigieburn Station via Mickleham and 511 Donnybrook Station – Mandalay via Olivine Estate

To allow for the introduction of Route 501 at Donnybrook Station, Route 511 Donnybrook Station – Mandalay via Olivine Estate and 525 Donnybrook Station – Craigieburn Station via Mickleham will share a bus bay. Route 525 will also get its own dedicated bus bay at the new Craigieburn Station bus interchange.

There will also be a timetable change on Route 511 which will come into effect 7 January 2024.

Passengers should check the timetable before they travel.

New timetables will be available at ptv.vic.gov.au, the PTV app or by calling 1800 800 007, from 15 December 2023.
