If you're an asylum seeker, you may be eligible for a PTV Asylum Seeker ID and a Concession myki. This gives you a 50 per cent discount on travel.
To apply for a PTV Asylum Seeker ID you must:
- be aged 17 or older
- hold or be applying for a bridging visa under the Migration Act 1958 (Commonwealth)
- not have any other entitlement to public transport concession fares (such as a Victorian Healthcare Card or Pensioner Concession Card).

Send your completed application form to Public Transport Victoria at PO Box 4724, Melbourne 3001, or you can hand the form in at a PTV Hub.
Your PTV Asylum Seeker ID is valid for two years from the date it is issued. Once your concession card has expired, you'll need to apply for a new PTV Asylum Seeker ID.
If your visa status changes, return your PTV Asylum Seeker ID to the PTV Hub at Southern Cross Station and ask about alternative concession cards.
Temporary change to PTV Asylum Seeker ID requirements
From Wednesday 1 July 2020, if you hold a PTV Asylum Seeker ID that expires on 30 June 2020 you can continue using this as a valid form of concession.
This arrangement is in place to accommodate delays in processing new PTV Asylum Seeker IDs due to circumstances relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is a temporary arrangement only. You should proceed with your application to obtain a new ID as soon as possible.
This arrangement does not apply to other forms of concession entitlement.
This webpage will be updated to advise when expired ID cards will no longer be accepted.
