​There are plenty of benefits you can take advantage of when travelling on public transport, including free and discounted travel.

2 hour myki Money fare

If you first touch on after 6pm, you can travel until 3am the next day - that's up to nine hours for the price of two.

Commuter Club

Organisations can buy discounted yearly myki Passes through Commuter Club for their employees.

Concession fares

Concession fares give you at least a 50 per cent discount on travel. Asylum seekers, children, Health Care Card holders, pensioners, Seniors Card holders, students, and war veterans may be eligible for concession.

Daily cap

If you top up with myki Money, you receive unlimited travel in Zone 1+2 for $8.60 full fare ($4.30 concession).

Early Bird train travel

Your metropolitan train journey is free if you touch on and off before 7.15am on a weekday.

Your journey won't be free if your myki balance is negative.

Family Traveller

With a Family Traveller ticket, an adult can take up to two children aged under 19 for free. Available for off-peak travel to and from all V/Line destinations. Not valid for travel entirely within Zone 1+2.

Free Tram Zone

The Free Tram Zone includes the city centre and extends from Queen Victoria Market to Docklands, Spring Street, Flinders Street Station and Federation Square. If you’re only travelling in the Free Tram Zone you don’t need a myki.

Free travel passes

Some customers are eligible for free travel passes. Check if you qualify see a free travel pass.

myki Pass

If you travel most days, you can save money with myki Pass. Choose what zones you’ll be travelling in and how many days you need. You can buy a myki Pass for 7 days or anywhere between 28 and 365 days.

Prepaid Travel Authority

With a Prepaid Travel Authority you can save money when you travel in a group of 12 or more.

V/Line off-peak fares

You can save up to 30 per cent by travelling during off-peak hours. These services are also quieter and you're more likely to find a seat.

  • Touch on and off in Melbourne between 9am and 4pm on weekdays
  • Touch on and off in Melbourne after 6pm on weekdays.
  • Weekends and public holidays.

Weekend fares

On weekends and public holidays, your daily myki Money fare is capped at $6. You can enjoy all-day unlimited travel in Zone 1+2.
